I have some news. For at least the next two months The Anxiety Guru Show will be on hiatus. I’m taking a break to give myself more time to study, exercise, and be with my family. I know that for a small number of you this show helps, which is why I want to emphasize that I am not canceling the show. After I earn my license and things settle down a bit I will return. Recently it struck me that I have been doing the podcast for over 7 years without a significant break, which is kind of nuts when you think about it. What’s good about that though is that there are over 65 episodes that you can still listen to. The most recent 50 shows can be found on iTunes while older shows can be found on the AG archives page.
Beyond that, I wanted to share with you a few tips for dealing with long-term anxiety. I know that many of you have struggled with anxiety for many years and I wanted to put together a podcast that highlights what I consider to be the most effective ways to treat abnormal anxiety. Honestly, you have heard of most, if not all, of the tips I included. But at the same time I often get the feeling that people are searching for special or even secret solutions to their angst. Well, that kind of thing doesn’t exist. The treatment of anxiety is simple, yet hard. This of course is frustrating and sometimes even heartbreaking. I know that you may feel exhausted from experiencing so much fear and perhaps even sadness. Yet, there is a way forward. And one of the keys to recovery is to review what you know.
So, listen now.
In this episode of The Anxiety Guru Show you’ll hear about:
- Why I am taking an extended break
- The Top 5 most effective anxiety treatments
- What I would recommend to my own family member
- Best wishes for 2016

Paul, you have helped me greatly in my struggle with anxiety, I pray you pass your exams with no problem and are able to continue to help others with your work. I recently had to go back on meds for my anxiety, it is like the physical symptoms just keep hitting, even when I don’t feel anxious or stressed and when things are going well in my life, I can’t get away from the symptoms, which means I guess I am still suffering. I don’t understand it and I am not sure which direction to go right now. I am just allowing myself to take a break and find answers while on the meds, but I am putting on a ton of weight so I am going to have to figure something out soon because I am becoming a balloon on the meds. lol

Hi Paul I am a student at the University of Brockport and I am doing a blog about anxiety, I really like listening to your podcasts. I think you really do great work and you truly help a lot of people out. There are many people in my life that suffer from this terrible disorder and not enough people know what anxiety is about or how to handle it. Thank you for your work and I hope you enjoy your well deserved time off. If you ever want to check out my blog you can here https://anxiety2655.wordpress.com/

Hi Paul, last few years I was facing anxiety. For example, I used to avoid ALL social situations. I now love being around people. I used to avoid public speaking. I now seek it out. I used to hate eating in public. It now doesn’t bother me. I’m finally living my life as I want to. Overcoming social anxiety took a lot of work but it was worth every second! Everything is possible for your tips.. Now I am leading my life without anxiety.
Thank you.
