There are many ways to treat an anxiety disorder. Some people use drugs, yoga, acupuncture, vitamins and the list goes on. But did you know that drinking tea can help relieve anxiety? Tea contains a unique anxiety reducing amino acid called L-Theanine that helps create a calming sensation. The irony is that tea often contains caffeine. Nonetheless, people who drink tea often say that they feel calm after having a cup. In addition to reducing anxiety, studies have shown that L-Theanine may be effective in promoting concentration,
How to Pick the Right Anxiety Medication
Somehow, after 10 years of living with anxiety, I've managed to stay off of medication. But, for better or for worse, that's not the case for most people with anxiety and depression. In fact, researchers believe that up to 10% - or about 30 million people - in the United States alone use an antidepressant. There are also millions more around the world that use antidepressants, beta blockers, sedatives and sometimes even a combination of these drugs to help themselves them cope with their anxiety and depression symptoms. Many of you are
Coming Soon: Anxiety Guru Special Report
I mentioned a few weeks ago that I've been working on an ebook and today I just wanted to follow up on my initial introduction. I've been working on what I call a special report for about 3 months now. The special report is a 50 page white paper on how to stop anxious thinking. I've been wanting to write and publish this report for some time, but I always put it off because I felt that it takes a lot more effort to write reports than it does to write a blog post. The problem, however, wasn't the increased effort needed, but the fact that

The Ultimate Anxiety Trigger: Assumption (podcast)
An assumption is a mental leap you take without looking around first. They're also taken for granted, and it's this easy-going acceptance of them that contributes to much of your anxiety. I would never trash assumption itself because it serves a critical role. It can help you make decisions when you don't have all the facts, and also helps to remove mental hurdles that could otherwise complicate decision making. For example, when you're driving down the highway you have to assume, to some extent, that other drivers aren't going to run you
The Forum is Back!
After several hours of pounding on my keyboard I was able to resurrect the Anxiety Guru forum. Some time ago now a spammer did a real number on it, so I shut it down temporarily. But I think it's been long enough and it's now available. After the "attack" I was a little bummed because the forum was gaining some momentum, but oh well it's back now and I hope all of you take full advantage of it. I think forums are a great place to get and give information, so if you have something to say CLICK HERE and get started.
How To Tell The Difference Between Anxiety And Depression
photo credit: stevendepolo photo credit: Torley Unlike the common cold or the flu anxiety disorders follow a much slower progression. It could all start with panic attacks, then hypochondria, racing thoughts, palpitations and then, well then depression becomes a real possibility. After years of being anxious a person can and often will develop depression and I want to detail how one can tell the difference between anxiety and depression. Let's start by taking a look at the symptoms for both anxiety disorders and

photo credit: NathanF If you're anything like me than you are anxious about something almost everyday. This is a sometimes light but ever present feeling that something is wrong. This is always compounded when something is, or at least perceived, to be wrong. In both cases a good tip is to wait and see what happens before getting panicked. A good analogy is a bridge crossing. The bridge's span in this case is representative of an anxiety symptom. How do you cross it without veering off course? Now trust me when I say that doing
