Well. If you’ve spent anytime on this site than you probably already have a good idea.
But given that its taken me almost three years to amass that information, it could take you awhile to dig into it all.
So today I got a time saver for you.
On December 7, 2010 I gave my first interview. In it, I talk about what I think are the most effective ways to overcome abnormal anxiety.
I did the interview for a Canadian organization called Shepell fgi. It was the biggest conference call I’ve ever been on. And the audience was a bit different from what I’m used to.
Instead of anxiety sufferers, I spoke to 150 mental health counselors. It was a chance for them to pick the brain of someone who’d lived with severe anxiety and also figured out how to beat it.
And although the talk I gave was aimed at therapist, it definitely has a lot of value for anxiety sufferers as well. It wasn’t boring, either. It was a vibrant back and forth conversation that I think you’ll enjoy.
In this episode I discuss:
— My personal experience with anxiety
— Tips to therapists about how to approach anxiety sufferers
— Why I do what I do here at AG
— What I did to get better
— Why some people aren’t helped by therapy

Congratulations, Paul. It’s great to see your influence spreading–or should I say, the influence of your terrific blog and podcast. May many, many more people be introduced to the treasures you have to share.

Paul, big congrats to not just you, but the people who figured out how important it is for medical professionals to speak to someone like yourself. The lack of true knowledge on the subject among general medical doctors is just astounding. I’d go as far as to say that even most therapists don’t know the true nature of nervous illness, and the often simple (in theory) steps to diffuse this state. The more of this kind of thing that can happen, the better. Doctors need to do more than push medicine. But, ultimately… it’s up to all of US to educate ourselves, and your site is an invaluable tool for doing so. The best I’ve seen online by a long-shot.

Wow, sorry to double-post Paul, but I just listened to the whole thing. Excellent job…. and you left a line of people waiting! This thing could have been two hours long, easy.
I though the doctors sounded like they genuinely cared about improving their practice, too… which isn’t always the case, in my opinion. Of course, I’m a bit doctor-skeptical… but these people sounded sincere and committed to this issue.
Really impressive, Paul. I hope we see more of this kind of thing.

@ Teelea – Thanks Teelea. I hope I have more opportunities like this in future. It was a lot of fun and I think it was very beneficial for everyone involved.
@ Bryan – Hey Bryan! Glad you liked it. I agree with you about the therapists sounding genuinely tuned into learning something and trying to help anxiety sufferers. It was great to see them take such an interest in expanding their knowledge base.
