No matter how hard you might try you will never be able to read minds; this despite your anxiety driven belief that you know what other people are thinking when they stare at you from across a room. I recently spoke with a friend about this and I thought I'd write about it in the future, then I thought why wait? It seemed like an immediate issue for my friend, it only made sense to me that there would be more people with the same problem. I used to try and "read" other people's mind too, that is until I realized how pointless it was. At

Good day everyone, and I hope you are doing well. My posting is about my ongoing issues with Fibromyalgia and the anxiety that it creates. For those of you
The Ultimate Anxiety Trigger: Assumption (podcast)
An assumption is a mental leap you take without looking around first. They're also taken for granted, and it's this easy-going acceptance of them that contributes to much of your anxiety. I would never trash assumption itself because it serves a critical role. It can help you make decisions when you don't have all the facts, and also helps to remove mental hurdles that could otherwise complicate decision making. For example, when you're driving down the highway you have to assume, to some extent, that other drivers aren't going to run you
Anxiety Guru Show Fundraiser Update
On December 30, 2009 I was on the brink of closing down the Anxiety Guru podcast. I ended up extending the deadline because I felt so bad about having to shut things down . But instead of just throwing in the towel, I gave my readers and listeners a chance to help and they came through in a big way. I have to say that when I opened up my laptop today I was floored. In 17 days I raised $227.50 making the fundraiser a total success. Today in particular I received a huge donation and I have to admit that it made me rub my eyes to make sure
The Forum is Back!
After several hours of pounding on my keyboard I was able to resurrect the Anxiety Guru forum. Some time ago now a spammer did a real number on it, so I shut it down temporarily. But I think it's been long enough and it's now available. After the "attack" I was a little bummed because the forum was gaining some momentum, but oh well it's back now and I hope all of you take full advantage of it. I think forums are a great place to get and give information, so if you have something to say CLICK HERE and get started.
Do You Daydream a Lot?
To answer my own question, yes I do daydream a lot. Believe it or not daydreaming is a symptom of anxiety disorder and depression. So chances are if you're an anxious person you spend much of your time in la la land, fantasizing about a very cool version of yourself doing extraordinary things. But why? Most shrinks think that daydreaming is a self defense mechanism. Daydreaming is a form of escapism. As you well know, when you have an anxiety disorder things can get negative and intense. Not only that, but all that negativity can get
Study: Antidepressants May Not Work on Mild Depression
Story Hightlights Study says that antidepressants may not be effective on mild depression. Placebo and antidepressants performed similarly in people with mild depression. Study is limited however because only Paxil and Tofranil were studied. Over 2,164 clinical trials examined for study. Critics claim that the clinical trials examined were too short. Antidepressants still effective in people with major depression. To read the whole story CLICK HERE. Goal: $200 Donations: $25 Every Dollar Matters Find out why I'm
How to Stop the Mind Shift
The mind shift is the switch from normal thinking to saying to yourself something like, "oh no!" or "I'm going to die!" It's the dividing line between regular thoughts and panicked thoughts. It's easy to recognize this shift in thinking, and once you do it well, it can help you to reduce and shorten your bouts of anxiety and panic. This mind shift happens fast, and many times it happens so fast that you seem to fall into a panic state without even knowing how it happened. That's why you'll often hear people say that they were doing
Keep the Anxiety Guru Show Alive:
Many of you know that recently I was planning to unplug the Anxiety Guru Show. And now that the deadline I set is here it pains me to do this, so I had an idea. For those of you that don't know The Anxiety Guru Show is a podcast that I produce. Anyway, due to money issues I thought of closing down the podcast until things improved economically. The problem is that many people love the podcast and gain a great deal from it. This is why closing it down without a fight made me cringe. So running a short fund raiser I guess will be a
