Having tricks of vision is most definitely an anxiety symptom. The type of tricks vary but generally speaking they involve blurry vision, tunnel vision, and just plain thinking you saw something when there was nothing there.
Most of this can be chalked up to stress. Stress was not named the silent killer because it just sounds good. Overtime stress can take a real serious toll on you psychologically and physically. Now when stress and anxiety join forces is when you may encounter a problem with respect to your vision.
I want to keep this basic so I will simply say that if you are having vision problems because of your anxiety it is mainly tied to fatigue, muscle tension, and the excessive production of adrenaline.
Chronic stress (because of ongoing anxiety) leads to an over production of adrenaline. This has several potentially nasty effects on the body but of importance to us is the fact that it can increase intraocular pressure. And although the elevation of intraocular pressure may not be significant it can cause blurry vision.
Tunnel vision is also related to the excessive production of adrenaline. One of the bodies mechanisms most clearly tied to anxiety is the fight or flight response. Among other things, this bodily reaction pumps adrenaline into the blood stream which may temporarily cause tunnel vision.
In life or death situations tunnel vision can be a life saver (literally) because it brings focus to the task at hand. However, if you’re sitting on your lazy boy and having a panic attack the benefit is lost.
In addition to blurred or tunneled vision you may have also experienced peripheral vision tricks. That is, you thought you saw something from the corner of your eye when nothing was there. This is one that can be related to lots of things, but in my view it happens to all people.
It may however happen more to anxious people because they are hypersensitive to their surroundings and also anticipate things all the time. Being cranked up on adrenaline can also make you jumpy and super aware of gleams of light, shadows, and even slight variation in wind velocity. In other words, don’t worry so much about this one.
In terms of seeing spots of light and wiggle worms (floaters), this is probably due to an actual vision problem. Please remember that if you are experiencing new or different vision problems to speak with an optometrist so you can obtain a proper evaluation. You know what happens when you assume things.
This is by far not an exhaustive list of things that can go wrong with your anxiety driven vision problem. Indeed, you may have dealt with some very strange vision problems before as a result of being anxious. And that is my main message to you.
Anxiety can do seemingly everything when it comes to our bodies. It can strain muscles, temporarily raise blood pressure, create tension and many other things that can affect vision. So once more let me be the one to verify for you that you’re not crazy. This stuff does happen to anxiety sufferers.

So relieved to read this. I’ve been having vision problems since developing panic/anxiety disorder (are they the same? Technically I have been diagnosed with panic disorder but I am anxious most of the time in between panic attacks) and thought it was related but wasn’t sure. I regularly can’t read a whole paragraph at a time because everything goes blurry. Glad to know that it’s nothing more serious than another anxiety symptom. Thanks!
Andy says
Thanks for this Paul. I have to say this article has single handedly sorted out my dizziness. As soon as I knew what was going on it’s pretty much stopped – so I guess I owe you big time for that. And Rachel, I know how nasty dizziness can feel so I hope you feel better soon.

I’m wondering if this is what ive been experiencing. I’m a 21 year old female and i think ive been having symptoms of anxiety. Weird things will happen to me like random parts of my body will go numb, it will feel like i cant breathe (but i can), etc. the latest weird symptom ive been having is that i feel like my visual perception is off. It’s hard to describe but for the past week i feel like i have to strain my eyes and really focus on things. it also makes everything seem like im walking around in a dream–very weird. I’ve nearly passed out several times now, but i think its just a panic attack? I went to the doctor and i had a cat scan, but it didnt show anything significant… anyone else experience anything of the sort? i dont whats wrong with me!
diomar lopez says
Emily i have been in the same situation as you atm as well, im experiencing many type of different symptoms, my current symptom is with my eyes as well… im 20 year old male, i have been finding info and it could very well be anxiety or an eye condition, just to be safe i might see an eye doc. in general anxiety/panic disorder is awful to have and wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.
darren says
Do stress related vision problems affect an eyetest ??? ive had problems for 3 years and a new set of glasses makes things worse but is it the glasses or my eyesight. and knowing that i must be relaxed for an eyetest makes more anxious vicious circle indeed !!
Paul says
Hi Darren, the answer to your question would be yes. Anxiety and stress can effect your vision thereby effecting a vision test. But like I said in the post the only real way to know if your problem is anxiety related is to see an eye doctor and have them give you an eye exam.
Javier says
hey guys i would just like to thank all of you for these helpfull tips, because ive been having these ongoing anxiety attacks for about a month now and the symptoms come and go, when i finish dealing with one another one pops out of thin air. It almost feels like my head is doing it on purpose you know, damaging one system at a time. anxiety really is incredible and it can make us feel an endless list of symptoms. But these eye problems you guys are talking about are totally true, i just came back from my eye doc and he said anxiety can cause many different pathologies and yes they stress the eyes quite a bit.
Javier says
the part i found most interesting is when she said that anxiety causes water to build up behind the eyes MACULA, and that watery build up is to blame for many types of vision distortions or blurryness. The build up of water is the bodies response to anxiety and while there is nothing else wrong with my eyes i do get very distorted and blurry almost everyday. So im not saying thats the answer to everything but that is most definately one of the causes of our vision trouble. And by the way can anyone help with some anxiety remedies, please im desperate i cant take anymore symptoms flaring up.
Javier says
by the way, do any of you feel eye fatigue? like your eyes really tired, and you feel like you have to strain them to see, or are they sensitive to light? or how about when ur in the dark? is it just my eyes or do you feel the same?
Debbie says
Hi-
I have fibromyalgia and am an HSP (highly sensitve person)so I know about wierd symptoms. This morning I had a spooky distortion in my vision which scared me a lot.I used my knowledge of EFT (emotional freedom technique) and remembered other wierd symptoms that had passed and it went away! Whew! Your article helped, too, ‘cuz other than light sensitivity and variable blurry vision (often due to food sensitivies), I’d never had a real vision problem before.
For help with anxiety and to see if you might be an HSP, just google those terms for more info and books. DLB
Edward says
I feel I am having the same problems as well! Its a vicious circle, I get anxious, then problems start to develop, and these are perhaps the only things that cause the stress in the first place. What do I do? How do I break the circle? I want to see a doctor about anxiety treatment, but my mum insists I’m a hypochondriac and I’d be embarassed to get help.
Darren Michaels says
With respect, dont listen to your mum – anxiety is very real and she cannot appreciate what it is doing to you. It took a year and a heart to heart with my wife (and the threat of divorce) before I went and so glad I did. you will probably be prescribed Citolapram in a mild dose. the mediction will help you break the vicious cirle – as it reduces the anxiety your thoughts become a little clearer allowing you break it.
Darren Michaels says
Xav, fully agree on the eye fatigue. been on the computer all day and around my eyes is agony from a combination of tired eyes and photosensitivity. try sunglasses
Crystal says
Javier you pretty much nailed it for me. My eyes will feel really heavy, blurry and sometimes sensetive to light. It gets so bad while im at the store I feel like im going to pass out along with dizzyness. Its really scary. I wasn’t sure if it was anxiety or if something was really wrong or if I just need glasses.
angie says
Hi Crystal, I have been haveing all the same symptoms as everyone on here, i am so scarred, dizzyness, light sensetivity when i go out to stores with bright lights , i get tunnal vision and i feel so weak like i am going to pass out, my dr set up a urgent ct scan for wednesday he can see slight swelling behind my left eye and they are checking for Brain Tumor however i have really bad anxiety and was wondering if anyone knows if this can be just related to Anxiety forsure?
angie says
BY Forsure i mean are those diffently symptoms of Anxiety, has anyone had CT scans or MRI’s to make sure? My dr knows about my Anxiety but he didnt say that this can be related
Crystal says
Hi Angie, Im not sure but I do know eyes can get sensetive to light and tunnel vison can be common with anxiety (from what I have read online) but Im not sure why my eyes feel heavy sometimes and feels like I have to strain them to read certain things or like its hard for me to concentrate. Its only sometimes for me so thats why Im wondering if it could be caused from anxiety. Im trying to go to the doctor over it to let her figure it out but I also have been suffering with a lot of stomach problems for over a year so some doctors try to say that its related to my stomach. Anxiety runs in my family so I think Im just having anxiety because Im scared of blacking out and dieing. I also told my GI doctor about my anxiety like symptoms and he didnt seem to think it was related to my stomach which I dont either. So Im going to go back to my regular doctor over it. My friend also didnt help me by saying that his aunt lost her vision for 10 seconds and had dizzyness and ended up having a brain tumor but I highly doubt thats the case for us because we would be having a lot of headaces but its good that your getting checked out for it. Who knows we might have something minor wrong with our eyesight or it could be just anxiety related but its always a goodthing to get checked out to make sure. Please let us know how your test results came out and what the doctor thinks is causing you your vision problems. Goodluck!
angie says
Thank you Crystal, I have alot or Anxiety in my family too + I just had a baby so that also seems to bring on Anxiety for me, I only get the symptoms somtimes but once i got it really bad for 4 days, I did alot of reading about brain tumors because thats what they are checking me for, also i had a uncle and cousin die of it, so i did alot of reading about them and it says most people with brain tumors dont have headachs and some people dont know they got them until a eye exam, really scares me, 4 years ago I had a Best friend die in her sleep @ 24 years old do to a brain tumor that doctors didnt know she had. Its sad, anyways thanks so much for your help ill keep you updated,It was the 6th of November when by dr seen slight swelling behind my eyes, ill just have to wait for the ct scan now… good luck
Crystal says
That’s very sad about your friend. Im really sorry about that. Im only 22 so this is scary to me and I have a son that just turned 3 so I want to be healthy and here for him. Im feeling dizzy and kind of out of it right now but I don’t really feel nervous so I don’t know what could cause it. When I think about it I start getting nervous and sometimes panic. When you have anxiety symptoms does your heart ever beat fast or skip beats feels like you can’t breath good, dizzy, and your body feel really hot? Because that’s what I feel like when I have a panic attack. I don’t have them very often I usually just feel dizzy and at night my vision seems to change espically when im reading online or look at something bright. They have put an EKG on me when I went to the ER over my heart palpations and it was fine so they don’t think anything is wrong with my heart the ER doctor just said it was anxiety. Im wondering if the heart palpations and feeling of difficulty breathing at times could be caused partly from anxiety or from my stomach from all the air and acid. Anyway Im just going to hope the doctors figure something out. I hope your CT scan comes out ok. Cogradulations on your baby! They are a true blessing and grow up so fast so enjoy it.
angie says
Thank you so much, and yes i have the exact same symptoms as you, I am 30 years old and i bealive alot of the symptoms are from anxiety, I have had anxiety sence a very young age but never vision problems, thats the only part that scares me and now they say i have swelling behind my eye that makes my anxiey worse i have 6 young kids and i really pray that this is anxiety.
I hope you start feeling better soon too,I am here if you ever need somone to talk to. take care
Crystal says
Hey Angie, I think it would be good for us to talk sometime about our symptoms and stuff. I have wrote a few articles on medhelp its a website that you can talk about health issues and get advice. I have wrote a few on these anxiety like symptoms Im having and my stomach problems that have been going on for over a year. I just recently started having vision problems as well but that came along with these anxiety like symptoms that have been going on for a lil over a month now. It all started when I was trying to donate Plasma for the 2nd time. I nearly blacked out from it and ever since then all of these other symptoms started along with my stomach problems. I just figured since it really scared me from nearly fainting it triggered off anxiety and since Im scared of dieing my stomach really started getting bad so I was worried about it being something serious. Im suppose to get an edoscopy on my stomach next Tuesday but Im hoping to get in to see my regular doctor before then this is terrible and very scary. I would like to chat with you more and let you read my stuff on medhelp because I got some good advice so maybe it might be helpful to you or ease your mind. Do you have facebook, yahoo or msn messenger? If you do I will talk to you there and let you read the advice I got from people with similar problems. Hopefully I will talk to you soon.
angie says
Hi Crystal i tryed to get into medhelp but it wont let me keeps asking for zip and i am from canada.. i do have facebook and msn but how can i send you my name to add me or can you send me your e-mail so i can e-mail you my info.. I dont have e-mail i use my husband’s
Crystal says
Hey Angie, I have msn and facebook too but Im emailing you from my phone so it will be a little more difficult for me to search for you by name. My name is Crystal Dehart im from Oklahoma USA. I think my name is common so im not sure how many people you will get when you search for me. I just checked according to the search results I got Im the very 1st one. My profile picture is of me, my fiance, and our son. If you can’t find me then just give me your name and I will search for you and then I will email you on there and give you my email address for msn. Do you have msn messenger or just emailing? I don’t really want to post my email here because I don’t want all of my info posted pubilicly. I have a doctor appointment tomorrow morning to see if she can figure out these anxiety like symptoms. The vision, difficulty and heart palpations is the thing that really concerns me feeling of blacking out is also really scary. Hopefully they will figure something out for the both of us and it won’t be anything serious. Im not sure about the medhelp thing it should work. When Im home and on my computer I will look and see if it matters where your from which it shouldn’t. Either way when we get added to facebook I will let you read the articles I posted and hopefully you will be able to sign up for it.

Paul Dooley says
Hey Daniellecmh,
I know it can be hard but try to not work yourself up too much about symptoms. In general, when you pay a lot of attention to symptoms they become more noticeable and problematic. If you fear a medical issue then by all means have it checked out, but if you don’t have a medical issue causing your symptoms, then you should know that anxiety can cause feelings of detachment, hot flashes, and the like. The most important thing you can do is relax your reaction to these feelings. That will go a long way in calming your nerves.
Chelsi says
For the past 2 years I’ve been suffering with severe anxiety. It wasn’t until about a week ago though that I found myself unable to concentrate. I couldn’t even read a children’s book, like I could see the words, but they just weren’t registering. Another was when people were talking to me I could gear them, but again, I wasn’t really registering what they were saying. I also had trouble differentiating what was reality and what wasn’t, it was almost as if I was watching myself. I’m told that these symptoms are related to anxiety and are common in people that suffer from it, but when I had that episode just recently, I honestly thought I had brain damage and it was really scary. Does this sound right ?
Ps. I forgot to click the notify me by email button, so if possible would you be able to do that?
Paul Dooley says
Hi Chelsi, what you’re describing is an anxiety symptom called depersonalization. It is very common and not harmful, although it can be scary. When it happens take a few deep breaths and remind your self that the feeling will go away on its own.
Chelsi says
It actually lasted about a week, I was put on welbutrin XL and so far things have been better
Paul says
Hi Chelsi,
So glad that you’re feeling better. Sorry to hear that your symptoms lasted so long, anxiety can certainly be tough deal with.
Nate says
Hello, This happens to me toooo! Have you guys ever felt a wierd feeling by your heart? Its almost like a heart flutter, but it only lasts for one beat. ANd i also get pains down my arms and other places. Please get back to me. And i get heart flutter feelings even when im not having an attack and i rarely get attacks anymore. Just flutters every once in a while and pains in arms.
Paul Dooley says
Hi Nate,
Chest pain and heart flutters like you mentioned are also common anxiety symptoms. If you’re really concerned about it I suggest that you see a doctor.
This way you can know for certain that it’s just anxiety. Otherwise this could bug you for a long time.
Nate says
Because it almost feels like a wierd heartbeat, and i have went and seen a doctor but i still feel like theres something wrong. But i get then only once in a while maybe 3 times a week at most. And its just like a wierd feeling near heart
Paul Dooley says
Hey Nate, Glad to hear that you’ve been checked. Take a deep breath, you’re going to be just fine.
Nate says
Yep, If a doctor says “your fine and healthy” you should realize he is right and knows. Because i sometimes still think something is wrong.. I used to get anxiety/panic attacks really bad, and now i never get them i just worry and it causes me wierd flutter/ wierd heartbeat feelings and i get pains sometimes. But my big question was, ” are heart flutters serious?’ and he said no they are only anxiety symptoms and are normal for everyone to get. Because i am 15 years old and active and play baseball. I am doing alot better now..

Well, I’m relieved to know this is really happening and not in my head!
I recently (a couple of months ago) switched from progressive-lens glasses to the “a pair for distance and a pair for reading” method. (No reason other than the expense of progressives)
They’re fine indeed for reading, but when I try to sit in front of the computer with them, those nasty panicky/dread/world-is-caving-in-on-you feelings kick in – out of NOwhere!
I switch back to my ‘distance’ glasses and – boom! – instantly gone.
What the heck is up with that?
Amanda says
I just wanna cry I’m so frustrated. I’m a 22 year old female. I have anxiety as well as panic attacks. I’m always dizzy. I feel like one eye tries to catch up with the other or like it’s a struggle to get my eyes to focus. My vision goes blurry randomly on and off at times. I get pain begin my eyes as well and they always feel dry. When I sneeze my eyes get tired and weak. I do not have allergies and do not have eye problems as I’ve had my eyes checked. My dizziness makes me anxious! Anyone have this?
anonymous says
Thank you for the article. I have been diagnosed with PTSD and started having flashbacks related to it in January, 2011. The short of it is I am 41 and my flashbacks are around the time I was seven and was introduced to a very violent step-father.
About the same time as the flashbacks I started having daily panic attacks. I then developed blurred vision in my right eye, this was about a month ago. The panic attack from the blurry eye–I literally was thinking I was having a stroke, worried about any bodily injury you can imagine–was so real I was admitted to the hospital in the cardiac unit.
It’s been a month since that panic attack and, thanks to being in touch with the buried memories, I have had all sorts of anxiety. Last week I had multiple panic attacks after I developed a hard time swallowing during a class, and that was also when my dry eye in both eyes really started to peak. A couple days later I had pain in my eyes and all the signs of dry eyes (I’ve been do the eye doc and saw him again earlier this week, confirming this).
I gained some control over those panic attacks last week, and Sunday my eye was fine, though sore, I could see out of both eyes. By Monday, the very high level of anxiety was back and sure enough especially when I focused on it, so came the blurred vision in my right eye.
My uneducated guess is anyone with severe anxiety knows it’s common to fear impending doom, and man my brain has had a field day with the dry eye thing. Thanks to Cognitive Therapy and writing down when I have anxiety and when I have the eye issues I am slowly starting to objectively see a pattern.
This article is helping me to step outside the anxiety, and really reframe my negative thoughts.
Thank you,
Ro

How about seeing a small flash of light occassionally during the day or evening from one eye? My ophthalmologist said it COULD be the beginnings of posterior vitreous separation, a normal occurrance in those past 50 years of age, but he doesn’t see anything going on when he examines me via dilated pupils. Retina looks fine. But I have been a bag of nerves since my father died 18 months ago, with many anxiety symptoms. Could anxiety/panic effect just one eye?
Boyd Petersen says
I have chronic anxiety. I notice when my anxiety gets bad I get tunnel vision. Everything just seems off. I feel like I’m on LSD or X without the high. The world looks surreal, people look different, I can’t focus. It’s just weird and hard to explain. It’s definitely troublesome.

Please can you help me. Basically i have severe anxiety on and off for 14 years and when i first got it i started to notice hundreds of floaters in my eyes, i have been to the top surgeons in the uk and they have all said ‘everyone has them, they are nothing’ slowly other things occupioed my mind and although i still had them i hardly thought about them at all. 4 weeks ago my anxiety returned worse than i have had in a long long time and suddenly i started noticing the floaters, my eys are so so tired i wake up more tired than the night before and the floaters are literally there whenever i move my eys thousands are there, its as if my eyes have taken on a new way of seeing and only looks at them, its terrifying me so much because im convinced thats it forever and i will only think about them. Even if the anxiety subsides a bit i still notice the floaters. could this have been brought in by this level of anxiety and now im focussing on them? im so scared
Sasha Jade says
I also feel like im about to have a nervous breakdown. The psychiatrist etc all say its just anxiety but i feel worse than ever i have a constant feeling of sheer terror from morning to night, i feel trapped inside my head and im beyond exhausted i feel like i have lost my mind, yet 4 weeks ago i was ‘normal’ im on a medication called Buspar but its not doing anything, i feel worse since taking it, infact i started really looking at the floaters since i took it. I cant take benzos as i become addicted so am not allowed. Please tell me i wont be stuck like this forever feeling so ill and only seeing floaters all day.
alwaysanxious says
Sasha…you might try easing off the medication by substituting Omega 3 instead, a little at a time while reducing the Buspar. I love Omega 3 Uplift bars (available online…just google the name brand).
I started out eating 1/3 bar, which contains 1000 mg. Omega 3, then worked up to a whole bar a day, which has the recommended 3000 mg. of Omega 3 to help with anxiety, deptession, etc. I am back down to a mainteance “dose” of 1/3 bar a day. I rarely need a Xanax anymore. The bars aren’t cheap, but are so worth it. You won’t get immediare results, but after a wek or so, I started feeling like I could cope with more of my fears and anxieties. I’m also incorporating more exercise like taking walks outdoors in the fresh air and sunlight. I have to wear sunglasses, or the floaters will show up more clearly. I will remember you in my prayers, and hope you can soon get back to ” not seeing” those floaters. I believe in time, they will settle down within the viscous portion of the eye.

Hi, i dont know how to explain my symptoms but ill try my best, im a 22 year old girl and my vision seems weird, it doesnt get blurry but it seems REALLY clear and its like im spaced out (sorry didnt know how to put it) i worry about everything, sometimes i dont worry but still feel abit disorientated, help?
Paul Dooley says
Hi Vikki, Well. I gotta say that having really clear vision is probably not all bad. But seriously, you probably have less of a vision problem and more of an issue with anxiety.
So, for starters, have you seen your doctor? Just to rule anything out. If so, have you also spoken with family, a counselor, or friends about this? If not, you should give it a try.
My advice to you is first find out if anxiety is the issue.
If it is anxiety then review treatment options, make an informed choice, and then follow through. And remember, no matter what happens, worry itself won’t hurt you.

Hello
I am 57 and have dealt with stress for a long time. My vision has received the brunt of it it would seem. Now at the height of the stress there are the strobes, a half a tunnel vision in one eye. Hot flashes, palpitations, anxiety attacks. I am normally able to handle things to a certain point and then all of a sudden it comes down at once. I was grateful to read some of the symptoms as it makes one feel they are not alone. I just wanted to thank you all for sharing. Now to find a source to relieve us of this stress so we don’t have to keep repeating these cycles.
William says
I am unbelievably relieved to read some of the things you guys are describing. I swear I’ve had just about every vision-related problem under the sun–all because of anxiety. I’ve been to two eye doctors, my GP a few times… and luckily we ruled out any physical causes for my issues.
Primarily I’ve been having the disoriented feeling, feeling dizzy, vision is distorted (this has been the most troublesome and I find it’s the most difficult to explain–can someone help me on it?), a few floaters, and sometimes I catch myself seeing things in the corner of my eyes that are actually there, but I almost feel like they aren’t. It’s super weird. And if I’m ever looking at a solid color that is well-lit (such as out in the sun) I almost looks like it’s flashing or something right at the center of my vision. Very annoying and I find myself worrying quite often that I’m going to start hallucinating or something.
The only relief I’ve really had is knowing that I have no physical, clinical issues. My dad and her mom (my grandma) have anxiety, so they’ve been telling me this whole time that’s whats happening to me. Of course, I also have a schizophrenic step-brother which sort of freaks me out too; I want to keep living my life. 🙁
jacinna says
hi, umm i was just wondering – ive been having trouble with my eyes for over a year – and i was diagnosed with general anxiety disorder/ PTSD last yr… my eyes keep changing every time i go to the optometrist w/o fail… First my left eye is stronger than my right – so they gave me glasses that have a stronger lense in my right eye – but now my right eye comes up stronger than my left so vise versa…it keeps changing and the opthamologist says : “there is nothing wrong with your eyes…live with it…” i have trouble driving and i have 2 pairs of dif glasses because my eyes keep changing…. not sure which ones to wear because my eyes are constantly changing .. :S helpppp???
Paul Dooley says
Hi William, sounds like you might be a little phobic about the schizophrenia, but in all honesty if you had such a problem you would not be unsure about whether or not you had it as the signs would be clear. Since you’ve already ruled out physical problems anxiety sounds like a probable culprit. Have you seen a therapist yet? If not you should consider it. You’re dealing with fear and not insanity so this would be a good route to try.
Paul Dooley says
Hi jacinna, your eye doc might have already gone over it with you but it is possible to have a different prescription even within a short time after receiving a new one! Sounds weird but not uncommon. At this point your anxiety is likely causing you to bring a lot of attention to your sight, but that is different from having true eye issues. If you’ve been cleared medically then you’ll want to work on lowering your anxiety so that your focus on vision can decrease over time.
William says
Yeah, I’m seeing a therapist. I see one every week. And I’m definitely a bit phobic of the schizophrenia. It’s in my family and that’s the only reason it scares me so much.
And apart from that, the vision and perception issues (pretty much every psychological symptom I’ve seen/heard of, I have) are my main problems. I’ve been exercising and take B Vitamins to try and help, but so far not much has come of it (been 2 months). Still trying things, hopefully I find something that works. =) Thanks for your response!

I have had these symptoms for about 1 and a half and it’s horrible! Please help!
Paul Dooley says
@ Jake and Brian,
Hey guys, first things first, get your eyes tested. If all is well there then please address your anxiety. Because it may be anxiety prompting your physical symptoms. Don’t wait for this to go away on its own because it likely will not.

Hi everyone, I posted on here a while back when I was real sick and having vision problems. At the time I was having anxiety like symptoms for months. I would feel faint, heart palpations, dizziness, vision problms, weakness, nausea, sometimes vomiting and I couldnt hardly eat anything. I was having stomach problems before all of that and I went to several doctors over it. They just said I had gasteritis and acid reflux but after a year of suffering with stomach problems I started getting severaly sick with all of those other symptoms I mentioned. With my vision things seemed to bright. Going to stores really bothered my eyes things just didnt seem right or to bright like it had a glare. Sometimes if something looked to bright I would feel like I was going to pass out or my eyes would go dim trying to adjust. It would scare me and then I would have real anxiety over it and would have to go home. It bothered me looking at the computer screen for very long I would get dizzy and it would hurt my eyes like I was straining them. It bothered me sitting in my house with the lights on. I went to my doctor over it at first she was going to do a CT Scan but she did blood work and checked my b12 (which most doctors dont do) and sure enough my b12 was low which can cause all of the symptoms I was having. From my stomach problems I couldnt absorb the food I was eating right which caused me to have a vitimin b12 defficency. After getting b12 injections and getting my gallbladder removed I can now eat, sit on the computer and go to the store in peace. Im not 100% better but I am a lot better then I was. I have anxiety once in a while but most of them time Im fine. I do believe anxiety can cause vision problems but it shouldnt be constantly and I would always recommend going to the doctor and getting tests done just to make sure its not something else. I also did go to the eye doctor and in one eye I had 20/20 vision and the other one I needed a contact but other then that they didnt find anything wrong. So I would recommend going to the doctor telling all of your symptoms and get some tests done and the eye doctor would also be good. Better to be safe then having to suffer and not know for sure. Just thought I would share my story.
