Recently I ranted on the Anxietyguru.net forum about my current anxiety episode. For the past 10 days I’ve been in the midst of a terrible anxiety ordeal. In the past I’ve spoken about the two types of anxiety, the physical and mentally based kind. Well my current state of anxiety is fully mental and sadly rather debilitating.
But this post is not really about that. What I actually wanted to say is that as a result of being in so much mental distress I’ve been searching for information to reinforce all I know about anxiety to help me mitigate this bad turn of events. While at work I came across a great guide to stress management and positive thinking and I want to share it with you.
There are so many programs out there that might help some or all of us but unfortunately most of those are expensive. This guide is free and I found it at Lindaland.com. It’s two free mini books that can be read online or downloaded and give an excellent description of how to handle stress, anxiety, fear, and how to effect positive change on the negative thoughts we have.
This morning I was literally in pain because of my anxiety. It hurt to think and I was almost paralyzed with fear. I knew what was happening to me but I needed something external to snap me out of it. These short books did just that. I finished the day and once I got home just wanted to share these books while it’s fresh in my mind.
You can find the books here. I think I’m slowly coming around, but with anxiety you never know. I’m glad I found this great reminder that we can do a lot to effect how we feel and think. I hope this helps anyone that needs it.

Andy, I’m sorry to hear of your continued suffering with anxiety. Something you said in your article here stuck out to me though. You said “I think I’m slowly coming around, but with anxiety you never know.”
That comment stuck out to me because I’ve recently turned a huge corner in my anxiety battle, and I wanted to share it with you. You seem to be suggesting that you continue to fear your anxiety will return. As long as you expect it to return, it’s going to return. Dr Claire Weekes is who I’d like to recommend to you. Please check out the audio links on this page, and listen to each one carefully. This woman KNOWS what she’s talking about. I promise you. If you like what you hear, buy her book on Amazon “Hope and Help for your Nerves”. She also has a fantastic audio CD on Amazon.

Hey Danny, Actually it’s me (Paul) that wrote this. I had Andy as the author by mistake. But thanks for the thought.
I’m very familiar with Dr. Weekes and all the rest of it, but this I have to say caught me off guard. Real whammy this one was.
But I’m adjusting. And you are right, I should not expect it to return. I’ll keep that in mind.

Hey Paul,
sorry to hear that you are struggling right now. I hope you know that lots of folks are thinking of you and sending you some good vibes. Your podcast/website was such a blessing to me when I was going through a series of panic attacks, I wish I could be as helpful to you. I’m sure you know, but it’s good to remember that this WILL PASS and once you accept it it will move on. (I think you gave me that mantra!) I hope it passes soon. Take care of yourself! Cheers,
C

Thanks Christy, I agree that it will pass, hopefully soon.
You know that’s what is hard about anxiety, you can know it all (or believe you do) and still get hit in the face with it.
Dr. Claire Weekes, someone I admire and who helped others with anxiety for over 40 years, did know it all and still had panic attacks herself.
But eventually she was able to cope with it fully. I’m honestly not there yet, but both you and Danny make great points – and that is don’t anticipate more anxiety and understand that it will pass.
That is such an important lesson for all of us. It happens, but I am not deterred.
